Irregular verbs

ir

to go

Participle
ido
Gerund
yendo

Irregular forms appear in 7 of 17 tenses. Every other tense follows the regular pattern.

Ir builds its forms on three stems: v- in the Presente and Presente de subjuntivo (voy, vaya), i- in the Imperfecto, Futuro simple and Condicional (iba, iré, iría), and fu-, borrowed from ser, in the Indefinido and Imperfecto de subjuntivo (fui, fuera). In the Imperativo, tú is ve and nosotros is vamos; the negative nosotros form is no vayamos.

Highlighted forms are irregular: they differ from what the regular rule for that ending gives. Every other form follows the regular pattern. Hatched cells have no form, because the imperative has no yo.

Compound tenses are built from haber and the participle. The participle of ir (ido) is regular, so every compound tense is regular too — see the Perfecto.
